Many women - and sometimes their caring husbands as well - take the breaking of the waters, or amniotic fluid, as a sign that their baby is about to be born any moment. Yet calling for an ambulance can lead to an unnecessarily long wait at a clinic or hospital, which in the case of some women can even impede the coming of labour contractions.
